If you haven’t ordered your Harry Potter, don’t worry, you can get them from Tesco. The previous Potter book cost the same as pre-ordered price from the major bookstore chains in Malaysia. It says on the broshure, “Guaranteed Great Savings”, which means I would expect the price to be competative. The published price is RM109.90. If pre-ordered from Popular, you will get 25% for early bird (which already expires) and 10% extra for being a Popular Card member, totalling 30% of savings, which translate to RM32.97. Popular offer a free T’shirt and a chance to win a trip to DisneyLand Hong Kong. Borders offer 25% of discount and a free Owl, and MPH currently get RM10 discount and a free mug (out of stock).

I thought I remembered MPH also gives 20% discount to early bird Harry Potter Book 7 pre order, maybe I was wrong. So, for those who pre-order early, Popular bookstore had the best deal. Can Tesco beat that? This means the book price at Tesco needs to be less than 70% of the published price. But since Popular Early Bird Pre-Order offer already expires, and currently only offering 10% discount, similar to MPH with only RM10 discount for pre-order, Borders has the best price. If Borders maintain the 25% discount when the book is release, Tesco will have to meet/better that selling at 75% of the published price. The only thing you dont get from Tesco is the free T’shirt/Owl/Mug.

Oh, one more thing, from 19th July to 1st Aug, Milo is on sale in Tesco at Rm23.99, so while you get your Harry Potter at 7.01am, you can also buy your 2kg bag of Milo. If you live in Penang, you might want to head to Borders as Milo at Jusco is only Rm22.99.

Carefour is selling for RM69.60 with goodie bag for first 100.
Borders is selling at 20% off from 7am, with $30 rebate with free Starbucks B’fast. (By far, the best deal, RM57.92 for the book with all the discounts, inclusive of free b’fast summore – I regret pre-ordering).
